North Lake Tahoe

The quiet end of the lake. Carnelian Bay and Incline Village sit on the north shore, ten minutes from Northstar and twenty from Palisades, with the crowds and the traffic an hour south of here.

North Lake Tahoe is where the lake stops being a destination and starts being a place people come back to. Carnelian Bay is three blocks of pines and a beach; Incline Village is the walkable side, on the Nevada line.

Summer is the water — Patton Beach, Kings Beach, Speedboat. Winter is Northstar, Palisades and Diamond Peak, all inside half an hour. Spring and autumn are the trails, and nobody on them.
